I have been challenged to a wait loss competition with the other brothers. We had our "official" weigh in on Friday (1/2/09) and I came in at 185lbs. All three of us were slightly overweight according to various charts that came with the scale and using the Lester competitive spirit I think this is going to work better than we all might hope. Granted if Brian and I had never stopped racing to see who could make it up the stairs first we might not be looking to trim a couple of pounds in the first place.
My game plan for this challenge is this:
January: Target weight 178-180lbs
Cut 1000-1200 calories a day from my diet (20oz Soda 250c, Soft Pretzels 300-500c, Snacks from vending machine 210c, etc...). Do 10 mins of stretching and 20 mins of cardio every day for the first 2 weeks then double the last two weeks. Speed my metabolism back up by drinking 8 glasses of water, building the lower body muscles, and increasing health fats (Omega supplement).
February: Target weight 172-175lbs
Develop overall better eating habits and getting into a steady routine of what to eat and when to eat. Increase stretching exercises and begin light weight workouts (get muscles back into a routine).
March/ April: Target weight 160-165lbs
Start a full strength training program and increase cardio work outs to 1 hour a day. Start cycle training for MS ride.
May/ June: 155-160lbs (and a 6 pack)
Increase strength training and maintain.
